Raid Rules & Policies

Raid Scheduling

Progression nights are Tuesday and Thursday. Raids start at 6 PM Server time and last till 10 PM server, to secure a raid spot be online 30 minutes before raid time, invites will begin at 5:30 PM server time. Be prepared before asking for an invite, that means repair all of your gear. Have any resist gear or specialty items needed for the raid, including Flasks and other consumables. If you are a Raider and you are not in the instance at 6:00, you are wrong.

Due to our small number of raid times, Raiders are expected to have a nearly perfect attendance record. If for some reason you are unable to attend a raid or will be late, please make use of the AFK Forums.

Note: At times you may be asked to stay later than our normal cutoff; this should be a rarity, but can and has happened. And will only happen in the event that we are really close to killing something.

For comments, questions, or corrections contact Khaas.

Loot Distribution

Face on Fire uses an EPGP system in 25 man progression content, more about the EPGP system can be found on the EPGP page linked above. In all other content we instead roll using the ingame /roll command. Initial rolls are available to Main Spec only, followed by offspec, then DE. In 25 Man (non progression) raids, loot is as follows: 1 tier item per clear, unless it reaches offspec roll: at which point if you can use it, roll. Similarly, you get 1 item per slot, per raid. If you win a 2 hander, don't roll for another 2 hander later in the instance. The exception to this rule are mainhand/offhand, trinkets, and rings which you are allowed 2 of each. The offspec rule also applies here, if the item in question reaches an offspec roll it is fair game for absolutely anyone who can use it, regardless of what they've won so far in the instance.

Note: It is acceptable in non progression content to declare an off-spec as main. Similarly, if you are asked to respec for a particular encounter you retain the option to choose which spec you will be rolling for in progression content. To be specific: If you're asked to go DPS for General Vezax when normally you're the 3rd healer in a 10 man run: you can still roll on Healing gear. All I ask is that you please make your intention clear before we pull the boss.

Officers will be using RollTracker to monitor rolls, I highly recomend you get this AddOn if you want to keep up with rolls yourself. You can download the AddOn here. Officers should also use HeadCount, We use this AddOn to keep track of who's getting what on the news page (it also helps to keep track of raid attendance). The AddOn can be downloaded here.

A Brief Note on Wishes: It is important to note the Wish System is now live, it will nothowever be used during progression raids or in the presence of pugs. Or more accurately, not used in the presence of pugs who may conceivably want a shot at a given Wish Item themselves.

Ok, That's ALL Fine And Dandy, But What About Legendaries? In the event of a legendary drop such as Fragment of Val'anyr or Shadowmourne, loot will be decided by officer vote. Believe me when I say we are aware that these items are highly sought after, and we will be holding votes in the officer forums ahead of time to establish a list of candidates. Candidates will be listed in order of priority (he who gets the most votes sits on top) officers who want a specific item themselves will not be voting. In the event that a Fragment drops, the list will be checked and the top person on the list (assuming they are present) will be awarded the fragment and all subsequent fragments until they've either completed their weapon requirements, or until they are absent. In which case the next person on the list is awarded the fragment and the process begins anew. In the event that two parties are present with fragments, the member with the most fragments gets the new one. In the unlikely event that both parties have an equal number of fragments they will /roll until there is a clear winner.
I know that this system might sound convoluted, however it is my hope that this will avoid a lot of drama and get someone their item. Rather than getting every healer in the raid 1-2 shards.

Please note that these rules are subject to change as necessary. In the event that a situation is not covered by our governing rules, officer will mediate at their discretion.

Discipline

No, this isn't a rant about priests. We are here: first and foremost to have fun. Everyone who attends a raid has something they could be doing besides raiding. That said, remember always when making a commitment to raid, that you are making a commitment to every other member in the raid. I'm not asking you to apologize to each member individually if you have to leave unexpectedly. I am asking you to act responsibly. We are a group of adults with lives and families. I expect each and every member of our raid to act accordingly. The general guild rules apply here. Obviously, some of this will be left to the discretion of the officers, and I should say it takes a great deal to receive the boot. I know that I speak for all of the officers when I say: we don't like to have to have that talk with anyone.

That all being said, our approach to discipline within the ranks is pretty straight forward. And we are admittedly a very laid back guild. Call it... business casual. As stated above, I see removal from the guild as an absolute last resort, I would much rather demote someone to member or nooblet status. It should be noted, if you DO get as far as Nooblet status, this does mean that you have a 2 week review in your future (kinda like a new recruit), only you had to actually screw up to get to this point, and I assure you that will be taken into consideration. An example of demotion worthy behavior would be being absent for protracted periods of time without making a post in the AFK forums. It's simple, if you're going to be gone (whatever the reason) let us know. If you miss 2 consecutive progression nights without letting someone know, you'll be demoted to Member (but not to Nooblet). If you decide you want to come back as a core raider, you'll have to wait a week for officer vote.

In general though, as I write this I have to say I've had a generally great experience with this crew. I'm writing all of this simply to establish a coherent set of rules we can understand and abide by as a guild. As we grow larger, I feel it's more important that these things be outlined. I will say now only, that I'm glad to be a part of this guild.

Raid Requirements

Recruits will be expected to run at least one raid or heroic with officers before given an invite. Act like you have some sense: Show up to the raids on time, and if you can't come let an officer know.

Ventrilo - [ Download ]
A mic is not necessary, but hearing those who speak is. This is not negotiable.
Contact an officer for login info and password.

AddOns: Deadly Boss Mods - [ Download ] and Omen Threat Meter - [ Download ] raiders will also need to download the EPGP AddOn - [ Download ]
Alternatively BigWigs and Skada are also acceptable.

The EPGP AddOn will display the GP value of items on the items tooltip, to view standings in real time simple type /epgp, you will need Member rank or higher however to view the current standings in game. Standings can also be viewed here, standings should be updated no later than the day following a progression raid.

Gear Requirements:
New Recruits and applicants should have a wow-heroes score of 2450, this is attainable with a few iLevel 200 items (trinkets and rings for example). For the best results, be sure to have all gear enchanted and gemmed to the best of your ability before applying, it also helps not to apply while logged out in PVP gear. Additionally, recruits are expeted to have their flying mount (or equivalent).

General Rules

Face on Fire is a pretty close knit group of people. We started out as RL friends with a simple goal: to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of the women. To this end, we've been quite successful. However, as we grow we need rules. Most of these I think will be common sense, but they are written here for a reason.

Don't be an asshole:
Generally, we're a pretty laid back crew, but one thing that will not be tolerated are people being assholes. What constitutes asshole behavior? For starters, if you're not the one running the raid, don't try to. It's perfectly acceptable to Whisper Someshta or Khaas with suggestions to improve the overall success of the raid, it's quite another thing to start badmouthing people in vent and calling people noobs for using "the wrong strat". Other symptoms of assholish behavior include: badmouthing other members in open chat, this includes guild chat, shouts, trade, raid, party, and general chat. If you have a problem with a specific member, try to resolve the issue like an adult WITH that member in private or contact an officer directly if you need help with the issue. Similarly, abusing pugs will not be tolerated. Let's face it, on occasion we all have to deal with people who aren't in the guild. Maybe some people are gone on vacation and we need a healer to fill out a raid. Or maybe a couple of people decide to throw a pug together for vault or a GDKP run. IF I hear of people being insufferable douchebags in a pug, you're out. End of discussion. And I will tell you why: We as a guild don't need you bringing us down. No news travels like bad news, we've all worked long and hard to make this guild a solid bunch of people and the last thing we need is to earn the title of Douchebag. Which brings me to my next point...

Drama:
It has it's place, and that' on TV during the day. It keeps bored house wives attention, but it has absolutely no place in this guild. I've been a part of several guilds in the past, most were large raiding guilds and one thing will tear a guild apart faster than anything else, and that's drama. It comes in many forms, but be assured it's always a bad thing. I refer you to the idea above, if you have a problem with a specific member, or even just a specific issue comes up not directly related to a specific member. Please contact an officer before going off the handle about it in vent, raid chat, etc.

Save it till the Baddy is Dead:
If you do have an issue you need to speak to an officer about, please save it till after the raid if at all possible. I say this, because if you're just pissed at someone then after an hour of cooling off you might feel differently. And then, there's no need to contact the officer in the first place. Also, if we're raiding ... we're there to crush our enemies, not to share our feelings. I don't say this to make you think I'm uncaring of your issue, but seriously the officers do have a lot on our minds during raid time. If we have to take care of an issue during raid time, that means the raid is pretty much on hold till it's resolved. Which means there's probably going to be about 25 pissed off raiders wondering wtf we're just sitting here...

Now for Something Completely Different:
Above I outlined specific bad shit, I didn't want to go over those things. But, I think it was necessary. From here it's pretty easy reading. And I'd like to thank you for reading this far.

Attendance and Absence:
This is a pretty simple rule, if you're going to be gone, make a post in the AFK forums to let us know. Otherwise, if you miss 2 consecutive progression nights it will result in a demotion to Member status. Again, if you contact us beforehand there's no issue.

Reductio ad Absurdum:
Aristotle even had a sense of humor, he said with his idea of Reductio ad Absurdum that ANYTHING can be reduced to a point where it's funny. That being said however, there is a time and a place. If we're fighting Mimiron, and you're not the tank or the raid leader: keep Vent clear. It is absolutely not the time to tell a dead baby joke. If Someshta is explaining a strat for a particular boss to new people or pugs, that is not the time to do your Rambo impression over Vent. Exercise restraint and common sense. Likewise, if someone tells a joke that is particularly offensive or off-colored and you actually do get offended by it, I ask you to review the above statement about contacting the person directly via /whisper or an officer to resolve the issue. Again, we're all adults and pretty laid back. So I'm sure we can resolve issues maturely.

Help:
Give a little when you can. Sun Tzu once said that a length of chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. And this is true, currently we have a lot of new raiders of varying gear and experience level. It can only help the guild as a whole for these raiders to increase both their gear and experience, to that end it's in your logical self interest to help these people when they need it. Perhaps advise them on some easilly gained upgrade or a subtle change in spec or rotation. In doing this, we all benefit: someday you may be the one who needs help.

Gathering in Raids:
Any items gathered via professions in guild raids will go to the guild bank. If you're working on your gathering skill and want to get everything in the raid to level your skill, that's fine. Just talk to us beforehand and we'll work it out so you can do that while still helping the guild. While it has been pretty much understood that gathered items should go to help the guild, this rule is being instituted to solidify that view and quell any upset feelings that occur when another guildy happens to skin the mob that drops the arctic fur, etc. If you need items for your other professions, don't worry, all the items gathered in raids that are then put in the guild bank will still be readily available to members.
